Stuff of the Week of June 15-21

Volume V Issue I
It has been a long time coming...but Stuff of the Week has finally returned in its...almost full glory. Yes, for now it is a cheap blog, but someday...someday it will be respectable again.
Here we go!

Movie of the Week: As a recently returned missionary I am just a little behind on movies. So this week is going to be Valkyrie because I saw it this last week and really liked it.

Upcoming Movie of the Week: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. While I never saw the first one...at least not yet...it is clearly the most awaited movie for this week.

Song of the Week: Coldplay - Viva la Vida. Ok, lets remind ourselves how long I have been home. I still like the song and dont even know if it is overplayed.

Album of the Week: This album shows its age. You see, its what I have listened to the most this week as one of the few complete albums I one and have on my Ipod...Jimmy Eat World - Futures. If you are a Jimmy fan then listen for old times sake...it was released in like 2004

Band of the Week: Coldplay because they recently put a free live album on their website for download...not that I have downloaded it, but I think it is pretty cool.

Shock of the Week: Tiger Woods performance at this weeks US Open. He still finished Sixth and won over $300,000 but the world was shocked!

Anti-Shock of the Week: The Kaysville YSA Extreme Home Makeover totally pulled it off almost completely renovating a house kitty corner from the Kaysville Tabernacle. Kudos to ALL who helped transform this family home.

Best Moment of the Week: I suppose this one deserves it...so I wrote my name on the rim of my David's Pizza hat with a sharpie and the next night was pretty busy, so my head got a little sweaty. Well it suffices to say that I had my name written backwards on my head the rest of the night to the enjoyment of the Knighton family, Scott, and Trevor.

Game of the Week: The Great Dalmuti...which probably one a few years ago only because it is such a classic. Nothing quite like it!

Day of the Week: Saturday for many reasons. The Great Dalmuti and my name written on my head played a role, but the saturday evening session of Stake Conference also helped.

Non-Weekend Day of the Week: Thursday was pretty sweet as my singles ward played some water slide tee-ball. Basically we hit a volleyball with a baseball bat and had to slide into two bases on a slip and slide. It was fun though!

Famouser Person of the Week: Ricky Barnes...nobody knows him but he ALMOST won the US Open. Sadly he shot a 76 in the final round...tough bunnies!

Girl of the Week: This one goes to Missy Mason because she was the female side of the brains behind the Extreme Home Makeover...it turned out great!

Deja-vu Moment of the Week: Now that I know what it means I would have to say it happened while I was working at subway. Maybe it is the monotony of making sandwiches each day but I had a moment where I swore I had made this exact same sandwich for that same person a few days before. Just turns out there are lots of loyal customers who come in at the same time everyday...

Bug of the Week: The fact that my body could not handle four slices of Key Lime pie and I spent the whole next day asleep or in the bathroom wishing I was!

Annoying Email of the Week: With my same email account I just dont get as many forwards anymore and the ones I do are quality emails from Chelsea. So this week it is not negative but rather a funny email with unfortunate photos all titled "Things that make you say 'aw crap'"

Weird News of the Week: So scientists discovered that Great White Sharks actually use the same hunting techniques as serial killers. A few differences persist, however...sharks hunt seals and their motiv is for food...we hope it is a difference...anyways...

News Event of the Week: Iran's reaction to a supposedly rigged presidential election. Here we thought democrats were ticked after the 2000 election...

Irony of the Week: Some wise guy said the recession would be over by September and the next week the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 500 in a week...ok so it isn't September but one would assume...blast...I don't know enough about economics!

"Sign that the World is Ending" of the Week: The Federal Government is deciding whether to tax Cow Burps in order to help the environment. Alternative Fuel anybody? There has to be a more creative solution than blaming the cows...

Tyler's Alias of the Week: T. James Barlow CSA (Certified Sandwich Artist)

Tyler's Question to the World (answers expected): Why is there not an option to block ALL Facebook Quizzes? OR is there? Too many people live their lives away taking quizzes and filling up my newsfeed!

Fool of the Week: Anybody who gets a Subway without vegetables...they are just TOO good!

Deep Thought of the Week: If gravity makes the downward spiral work then what outward force can incite the object to go back up?

Random Thought/Saying of the Week: Some say that some things never change...I say that most things don't remain constant...except $1 redbox rentals!

Car of the Week: I saw a '71 Camaro SS 396 down in Sandy. It was blue.

Color of the Week: The color of yellow banana peppers. I like them!

Candy of the Week: The nice lady gave me some smarties at the bank while I was taking my parents to the airport. I like smarties!

Tyler's Thesis of the Week: During World War II the whole nation was patriotic. This is understandable as our nations security was at risk and directly under attack. At the time of September 11th, the nation united in cheering for the true winner. Democracy. In sports, however, many cheer against the winner. Now people even hope for those who are better to lose and be embarrassed. My theory as to why there are so many Anti-Laker people is due to the change in opinions caused by our free-expression society. Everybody and their dog can have a blog and make their opinion known to the world...I love this fact though... We cheer for the underdog in all things because big press is the enemy, as is Wal-Mart. Yet, we still bow to them. They are symbols of democracy and commercialism. Why not cheer for the Lakers than?

This Week Last Year: I was in Nimes. We were getting ready for our mission president to change and were pretty much going crazy. However there was one fearful moment that remained. My companion and I went to Montpellier to have a district meeting with the mission president. We arrived the night before with just enough time to get into the apartment by taking the last bus from the train station to their neighborhood. One problem. We took the right bus but in the wrong direction and ended up in the middle of nowhere. We walked about a mile to the chapel hoping the zone leaders and their car would be there only to find the mission president and his family. I assume most people would rejoice, but all we could see was that we were face to face with our mission president at 9PM and should have been inside. PS: This was the intimidating mission president around whom we feared to brake any teeny rule and here we were 45 minutes from the nearest missionary apartment and hopelessly late. It was pretty scary.

Tyler's Anger Management Section: As a returned missionary I just dont have that much anger...you see, I spent two years trying to overcome all anger and it seems to have worked for a month...just wait. As I mentioned, the stuff of the week will return to its full glory soon enough. One thing did make me bummed a bit. stuffoftheweek.blogspot.com was already taken so I had to use this one. I am pretty curious as to who else uses this...
